How It Works
Authored Eternity gives donors real power. Your donations don't just fund research—they shape the future of the organization, the projects we support, and the breakthroughs we help unlock.
1. The Donation System
Every donation has three components:
Example: $30 Donation
- $10 Direct: Goes immediately to support the organization
- $20 to Pool: Creates 2 matching slots ($10 each)
- Future matches: Your 2 slots will match the next 2 donors
Current Matching Pool Status
2. The Voting System
- One vote per cycle: Your first donation in a voting cycle grants 1 vote that lasts for 4 years
- Additional donations: Further donations in the same cycle go entirely to the matching pool (no additional votes)
- Vote duration: Votes remain active for 4 years from when they're granted
- Cycle resets: At the start of each new cycle, everyone who donated in the previous cycle can donate again to receive a fresh vote
- What you vote on: Grant proposals for research funding, board member elections, and policy changes
3. Cases & Claims
- Cases are organized by category, similar to forum topics, representing different research areas or proposals
- Claims are specific statements backed by evidence, similar to posts in a discussion
- Community members discuss and evaluate evidence transparently
- Votes help prioritize which cases receive funding and community attention
- All discussions and decisions are public, ensuring accountability and transparency
4. Grantmaking Process
We support foundational research in science and mathematics, prioritizing projects with long-term potential and high uncertainty—areas traditional funding often avoids.
- Researchers and teams submit grant proposals
- Eligible proposals are reviewed and posted publicly
- Donors vote on which projects receive funding
- Grant recipients agree to share results publicly and release any patentable discoveries into the public domain
5. Radical Transparency
All votes, grants, and board decisions are published and archived. Grant outcomes are shared openly, including data, methods, and conclusions—so anyone can build on the results.
This ensures accountability to donors and the public, and fosters a global community of scientific collaboration.
